Australia Day Long Weekend

Australia Day will be a meaningful day for the team at The Squire’s Landing in more ways than one. It isn’t just the first Australia Day that we will be open since officially opening the doors in May 2018. It’s also a time for us to reflect on the history of this wonderful country and pay tribute to the stories of our ancestors – here for 60,000 years or only just arrived.

Our location in Circular Quay could not be closer to all of the exciting events taking place for Australia Day in Sydney in 2019. From music to kids activities to ferry races, it’s certainly a weekend out for all. Here are a few top reasons why you should make us your number one destination this Australia Day long weekend!

Yes, we are kid friendly! Bring the sons, daughters, cousins, god-kids and your neighbour’s baby. Our kids menu has plenty of tucker to keep the young ones content!

In ode to the Land Down Under, The Squire’s Landing’s Head Brewer Pete Merrington is busy concocting a new beer. It’s set to be tapped on Australia Day and while we cannot reveal the name just yet, know you can expect something with a malty palate and round, fruity finish.

Grab yourself a convict’s burger off the Brewhouse menu or start with some wood fired local prawns in the restaurant. If you’re keeping things casual downstairs in the Forecourt, check out the pop-up food stalls dishing up Aussie Day-only specials utilising fresh produce and celebrating Australian suppliers! There really is nothing more true-blue Aussie than kicking back at the pub, beer in hand, listening to local talent. Come prepared with your Crowded House, John Farnham and Vance Joy requests and let’s belt out tunes like Better Be Home Soon, You’re the Voice and Riptide together. Heck, as long as you get up and dance, our artist might even play a rendition of The Horses for you all.

Witness Australia’s biggest music stars rock out at Australia Day Live, taking place from 6.30pm at Circular Quay. Throughout the day you can look out to the water to see a flotilla of yachts, jet skis, fly boarders and more putting on a show like no other. You’ll also be treated to a series of dazzling firework displays at 9pm.

However you decide to spend your day, it’s set to be a real beaut one at The Squire’s Landing.
