The AHA NSW Awards for Excellence are recognised as the most prestigious awards programme in the hospitality industry. The awards honour the achievement of excellence in NSW hotels across a variety of segments including accommodation, dining, entertainment, marketing, social media, community service and talented employees.
The Squire’s Landing is proud to announce that we have been nominated for four awards for 2018. This is an outstanding achievement for the team in our first year of trade. Our Management team will attend the AHA Awards for Excellence at The Star on 20 November to see if we can come away with any of the following awards…
The award for Best Draught Beer Quality is judged on a 50% site inspection (back of house and cool room) and 50% anonymous site inspection. The criteria includes the beer system cleanliness and management and cool room/keg cleanliness, glass management, beer presentation and staff and service.
Unfortunately this award is not based on the quality and range of draught beer because if it was, we’d certainly have it in the bag.
The award for Best Wine List is based on a 100% anonymous site visit. The criteria includes the variety, originality and quality of wines offered, variety of local wines pursuant to location of the venue, suitability to cuisine style and image of the venue, adequate list of aperitifs, beers, spirits, liqueurs and waters also available plus excellent customer service and responsible service and practices.

The award for Best Restaurant – City is based on 100% site inspection. A lot of boxes need to be ticked to meet all criteria for this award, including popularity of venue and alignment to local market, excellent customer service, staff knowledge, daily specials and presentation and the accuracy, appearance, variety and quality of food and drinks.
We are definitely up against some tough candidates for this award however with our ever evolving restaurant menu, wine list and simply stunning views of Sydney Harbour, we think we have a pretty good shot!
The award for Best Social Media Activity is based on a 10% written submission and 90% observation handles, website and social accounts. The criteria includes consistency in branding, innovation in driving foot traffic and integration with the venues overarching marketing and communications strategy.

We cross our fingers, toes and eyes and wait until 20 November when we will find out if any of the above awards are ours! Thank you to every single one of our customers who has dined in our restaurant or Brewhouse since The Squire’s Landing opened in May. It has been a wild ride so far regardless of the awards outcome and we cannot wait to enjoy our first summer with you… Beer in hand!
