The old style charm of The New Sydney Hotel appeals to a wide variety of patrons, with a huge roaring open log fire and 16 different beers on tap, three of which change on a regular basis, accompanied by great meals, an extensive wine list and function rooms for up to 100 makes this a highly desirable pub.
Built in 1842 The New Sydney Hotel was known then as The Builders Arms Hotel and has had a chequered past. Being home to The Irish Association of Tasmania, it brings regular jam sessions every Saturday afternoon to all those musos out there, also regular live music Wednesday to Sunday when they fire up for their regular jazz and blues band.
Regular events at The New Sydney Hotel include a H.O.P.S. beer tasting night with four to five different beers from breweries throughout Australia and overseas, patrons get the opportunity to talk to brewers while tasting their fine product. A new addition to The New Sydney Hotel is the Rum Club which is a formal evening of rum tasting and presentations of the making of rums.
The New Sydney Hotel has James Squires Golden Ale, Amber Ale and Porter on tap with the James Squires Hop Thief Ale coming in June for a limited time. Come along and say hi to the friendly staff at The New Sydney Hotel.
